A former police deputy has been arrested after it emerged that he had allegedly been living a 'double life'.
Kevin Sypher had previously worked as a Sheriff's Deputy in Colorado, in the US, before his arrest over allegations that he had carried out repeated cons on family, friends, and coworkers totalling thousands of dollars.
Not only that, but it has also been alleged that the former police deputy had married his second wife while still married to his first.

Sypher has been charged with two felony counts of theft and charitable fraud, as well as two misdemeanour counts of misconduct.
After being arrested on April 2 he was booked at the Teller County Jail, with his bail being set at $100,000, court records indicate.
An investigation into Sypher was started after a doctor reportedly filed a complaint saying that Sypher had requested help with a fake crisis negotiation training scenario.
Investigators found that at least seven people had given Sypher money after he made claims that he had cancer and needed large amounts of money to cover the treatment costs.

During the crisis negotiation role play, the doctor alleged that a 'role player' was called to read a script which Sypher had written.
This script detailed how Sypher had a number of tumours and had stopped taking a chemotherapy drug.
It later emerged that the role player in the scenario was Sypher's second wife, an affidavit states.
The investigation also found that Sypher allegedly solicited money by saying he was divorcing his first wife and his bank accounts had been frozen.

He allegedly married a second woman while still married to someone else.
The affidavit also stated that he had told his second wife that he had "terminal cancer and convinced her to marry him as one of his last dying wishes so that he could live with her."
However, Sypher's second wife has also made allegations that he had set up scenarios including a break in which were to make her feel unsafe at home.

Between March 2022 and March 2023 Sypher reportedly received some $20,000 in cash donations.
According to investigations into his credit card and bank statements this money was spent on things including vacations, dance lessons, entertainment, and fast food.
Sypher was fired from his position at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in August 2023 in his absence, as he had disappeared four months earlier. He was only found again upon his arrest on April 2 2024.
