Music video to song by North Korea leader Kim Jong Un surfaces online leaving people shocked it's not satire

North Korea has dropped the most bizarre music video of 2024, it seems

A new music video from North Korea has left social media users with their jaws dropped.

North Korea has built up a reputation of being quite a secretive nation over the decades.

It must be said, the East Asian country doesn’t have any Western allies, so it is not like people expect those in power to share its inner workings but it still seems vastly disparate to many around the world.

It is worth noting that while Russia and China aren’t exactly great buddies with countries in the West, we still have a decent understanding of how those countries work and what life in their many cities can be like.

When it comes to North Korea things are just a bit... different.

A video that has begun doing the rounds on social media has shown just how different the nation is and its attitudes towards its leader, Kim Jong Un.

The music video showcases people around the country, in all manner of professions, reportedly singing praise for the leader as he is pictured with school children and workers, in what seems like a very odd piece of propaganda.

It is so bizarre it could easily work as an Saturday Night Live skit as people with permanent smiles beam at the camera while giving thumbs-up.

The song has reportedly been called ‘Friendly Father’. (YouTube/CNA)

The song has reportedly been called ‘Friendly Father’ and is said to be about how great and friendly Kim Jong Un is.

Some of the lyrics reportedly say: "May this night never end, dear beautiful night of Pyongyang. The people believe and follow him with one heart! Let's boast of Kim Jong Un, a friendly father!"

The footage also shows the North Korean leader being paraded around as if he is the greatest pop star to ever live, with people falling over themselves, screaming and weeping just to get closer to the man.

According to reports, the song was showcased at a ceremony to celebrate the opening of 10,000 homes in the country's capital, Pyongyang, and was aired on state-controlled Korean Central Television.

The music video was shared on the interestingasf*** Reddit board on Sunday (April 28) and has already received over 17,000 upvotes, with people shocked that its not satire.

“This makes The Interview look like an actual documentary,” one user wrote in reference to James Franco’s satire-filled North Korea-related film.

Another added: "I feel uncomfortable after seeing and hearing this."

While a third commented: "This is equal amounts of hilarious and horrifying."

And someone else claimed: "It’s not satire, it’s propaganda."

A final user penned: "This is wild."
