Jeff Goldblum says he won’t financially support his kids when they’re older

Jeff Goldblum wants his children to stand on their own two feet

Jeff Goldblum has admitted he won't be financially supporting his kids when they get older.

Of course, the majority of parents are financially responsible for their children while they are growing up.

Whether that be buying their school uniform or paying for all their grub, it's just something most mums and dads do.

However, when the kids transition into adulthood and the world of work, they naturally start fending for themselves without the monetary aid of their parents.

But this can be a different story when it comes to celebrities as many typically tend to continue financially supporting their offspring, well, because they can.

However, Jeff Goldblum is not one of them, as he revealed in a recent podcast.

Speaking on iHeart’s Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast, the 71-year-old opened up about raising his children with wife, Emilie Livingston, 41.

The actor - who, according to Celebrity Net Worth, has an estimated fortune of $40 million - has two sons with his partner, Charlie, eight, and River, six.

Goldblum explained that he tells his children they’ll need to work hard to financially support themselves when they are older.

"Hey, you know, you’ve got to row your own boat," he said.

"It’s an important thing to teach kids. I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you.

"You’ve got to figure out how to find out what’s wanted and needed and where that intersects with your love and passion and what you can do. And even if it doesn’t, you might have to do that anyway."

Goldblum is certainly not one to shy away from talking about parenthood, as he previously spoke to iNews about becoming a father and the timing being right.

The Jurassic Park star welcomed his first child in his 60s and admitted he was 'glad' he waited.

Speaking in 2018, Goldblum said: "It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to. What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them."

And in 2022, Goldblum opened up about being a new dad at the age of 70.

"It's amazing, it’s revivifying, and makes my relationship with Emilie, frankly, enhanced," he told Today.
