American Idol viewers threaten to boycott the TV show over Katy Perry's behavior

American Idol viewers threaten to boycott the TV show over Katy Perry's behavior

The pop star apparently is not so much hot as she is cold.

Fans have threatened to boycott American Idol over Katy Perry’s ‘rude and condescending’ behavior.

The pop star has caused quite the stir for being more cold than hot after scolding contestants.

The judge was harsh on Carina DeAngelo and Nutsa Abuza, who struggled with their duet in the latest episode of the singing competition.

After the two admitted that they had clashed during rehearsals, the ‘One That Got Away’ singer began to extract more details from the two.

Carina revealed that Nutsa wanted to get a good night's sleep before the performance rather than staying up all night, to which Perry suggested: "Maybe we should just let them sing."

After the performance, Lionel Richie said: "I must admit it was a little..." however, before he could finish, Perry jumped in, noting the performance was ‘underwhelming’.

She added: "I just think the energy was broken between both of you and so I think you couldn’t give each other the energy you both needed. That you both deserved. I think you’re both better than that performance."

Ultimately, Carina was booted off the show while Nutsa was afforded a chance to redeem herself on Showstoppers Week.

However, viewers were less than pleased with Perry’s behavior.

One user said: “@AmericanIdol @ABCNetwork @katyperry is rude and overrated, time for a new judge that brings everything and then some, just to bad @kellyclarkson is on the @NBCTheVoice.”

While another commented in part: “Please #KatyPerry done with American Idol. I’ve got all the audition tapes to watch, I just can’t because of Katy Perry. She’s so rude and insensitive. I know she tries to act like she is sensitive, it’s an act (a bad 1)."

A third said: "Katy is acting so rude. I might boycott the show for a bit."

The singer also copped backlash for a mom-shaming comment after contestant Sarah Beth Liebe, a mom of three, said during her audition: "If Katy lays on the table, I think I'm going to pass out.”

Perry quipped back: "Honey, you've been laying on the table too much.”

Yikes.

Later, when Liebe informed the judges she would be leaving the show to be with her children, Perry said: "Sara Beth, I know life is scary. I also know that it's easier to walk away than to be rejected.

“But then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential. Remember that self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don't leave the competition."

Following her remarks, one viewer wrote: “@katyperry mom shaming???? You, of all people, should get it. Appalling.”

Another commented: “@katyperry as an artist I love you but as a person, you sometimes have a nasty attitude. Mom shaming Sara Beth was incredibly rude and uncalled for. Shame on you!!!!”

While a third said: “American Idol judge Katy Perry may have crossed a line with her assessment of contestant Sara Beth Liebe, a 25-year-old mother of three.”
