Billie Eilish fans stunned after discovering her mom is actually famous

Normally, when someone has a famous parent – it’s pretty obvious.

Whether it be them being in the same industry or simply their last name being recognisable - usually you can tell when someone is a nepo-baby.

However, fans have recently found out though that Billie Eilish’s mum isn’t just famous, but was also a major part of one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time.

Whilst it’s never a real surprise for me when a musician or actor’s parents have blue names on Wikipedia, this is not what I would have predicted for Eilish.

This revelation comes just a day after the Oscar and Grammy award-winning singer skipped the VMAs, despite having four nominations at the show.

Dexerto made the finding on Twitter, and fans were shocked once they found out.

The popular viral account posted: “Billie Eilish’s mom was in Mass Effect 2 as Samara.”

Indeed, her mother, Maggie Baird, voiced the character in Mass Effect 2 and in a smaller role in Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the most highly reviewed games of all time, with a 96 percent Metacritic score, and is widely considered to be one of the best games of the 2010s.

Fans were shocked in the replies, not only for Eilish’s mom to be a famous voice actor, but for that to be what she’s famous for.

One fan tweeted: “I knew she was a nepo baby”, whilst another said: “That's cool & random af lol.”

Others pushed back at the accusation of her being a ‘nepo baby’, however.

Baird’s role in the Mass Effect series was arguably her biggest and outside of this, her only role of major note is in Friends.

She also appeared in a scene as a casting director for an advert during the episode where Joey gets a hernia.

Eilish’s dad, Patrick O'Connell, was also an actor who had no major roles outside of minor parts in Iron Man and The West Wing.

Billie spoke previously about her parent’s careers, telling Rolling Stone: “Acting is super weird.

"You can work for years and years and be the best in the world and never get a role, and you can be mediocre, do one audition, and become a huge star.

"For years, I saw my parents beat up over the fact that they didn't have it better."

She continued: "And that drove me insane — because they were really good! My dad is the best actor I've ever seen.

“My mom can do all these voices and characters — she's incredible. So, I wish they'd had more recognition.

“I actually want to make a movie and put them in it — I've never told anyone that."

As a massive Mass Effect fan, a Billie Eilish movie starring the voice actor for Samara sounds like a dream.
