Dixie D'Amelio has made it clear to fans she isn’t having ‘a mental breakdown’ after showing off her new shaved head.
The 21-year-old debuted her new look at 2022 Harper's Bazaar Icons & Bloomingdale's 150th Anniversary party on Friday 9 September, the following day she shared a video to her YouTube channel documenting the change from her long, dark locks to a new short cropped do.

In the clip, Dixie insists that she’s wanted to shave her head since she was a young girl.
While attempting to get her team onboard with the idea of a shaved head, Dixie said: "I just want to restart.”
She went on: "We're gonna make it a moment. I have dark eyes and eyebrows and lashes, I feel like it'd be fine."
"Everyone who I've told is like, ‘Oh, that's going to be dope'," she continued. "And if someone doesn't like it, then who cares. I just want to be a cool girl."

Elsewhere in the video, Dixie stresses that she isn’t having a ‘breakdown’.
Appearing in the clip Heidi D’Amelio - who also shaved her head when she was younger - said cutting her hair short was ‘very liberating’ but added: "You know what I did get a lot? A lot of people asked me like, 'Oh, are you going through something?'."
To which Dixie agreed, replying: “I’ve wanted to shave my head for a really long time.

“I’ve been, like sad recently. But I don't want to say anything, because I don't want anyone to think I'm having a mental breakdown. I've wanted to do this since sixth grade.”
Heidi then spoke about her decision to cut her hair, saying: "My sister was a hairdresser, but she wouldn't do it, she was like 'your head's flat in the back' which she was right, but I don't have to look at it so when I moved to New York City I shaved it because nobody could stop me."
After much back and forth - while trying to work out how she can style her hair for upcoming events - Dixie eventually bites the bullet and shaves her long hair off on camera.

Dixie recently said the most ‘rebellious’ thing she’d done was dye her hair blonde.
When asked during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar back in June, she said: "Probably dye my hair blond. My mom said it was a really awful idea, because I have very dark hair, and it fried my hair, the consequences of which I have to deal with to this day. I wanted to go silver; it turned orange immediately, and it was just all downhill. I wanted to do it all in one day, and that was my problem."
