One surprising passage in the book includes details about the Oscar nominee’s previously unheard of relationship with actress Kate Mara, who was in a relationship with The Social Network star, Max Minghella, when Page caught feelings.
The relationship came to be in 2014 when Page was busy filming the 2014 superhero movie X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“The first person I fell for after my heart was broken was Kate Mara,” Page writes in his book per People.

“She had a boyfriend at the time, the lovely and talented Max Minghella."
It is unclear whether there was any crossover between Mara’s relationship with Minghella and Page, however, the Umbrella Academy star said Mara told him: “I never thought I could be in love with two people and now I know I can.”
Mara and Minghella called it quits in 2014 and Page said that the Mindy Project actor was supportive of Mara exploring her feelings for him.

“This was right after I’d come out as gay and it was a time of exploration and also heartbreak,” Page explains.
While presenting under his female birth name and identity, Ellen Page, he came out as a gay woman on February 14, 2014 during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s 'Time to Thrive' conference.
Page came out as a trans man in December 2020 on his social media accounts, shared his new name and specified his pronouns.

“I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it with Kate, very much encapsulates a certain dynamic that I consistently found myself in, which was falling for people that — I think a lot of us do this — who aren't fully available. And the sort of safety in that and the highs and the lows and the serotonin bump, and then it goes away."
“And I think that is definitely a pattern in my life,” he said.
Page and Mara, who has been married to actor Jamie Bell since 2017, are still close and during his interview with People, Page said Mara has read his book and is set to appear with Page at a book event in Los Angeles this month.
UNILAD has contacted Kate Mara's agency for comment.
