Elon Musk got a pretty frosty reception as he was hit with a wave of loud boos when comedian Dave Chappelle welcomed him onto the stage during a gig.
The comedian was performing at California's Chase Center in San Francisco on 11 December when he announced that Musk, who recently bought social media giant Twitter, would be joining him on stage.
Addressing the audience at his gig, Chappelle told the crowd to 'make some noise for the richest man in the world', and he might have been left wishing he'd been more specific about the noise he'd wanted to hear.

Some people in the crowd cheered him on, but there was a massive wave of boos to greet Musk as he made his way onto the stage.
Chappelle tried to smooth out the boos with a few jokes, quipping that there were 'cheers and boos I see' and joking that 'it sounds like some of them people you fired are in the audience'.
Noting that Musk was about to address a 'tough crowd ahead it sounds like', Chappelle joked that the people booing loudest were unhappy because they 'have terrible seats'.

The booing kept up, with Chappelle's attempts to joke that the billionaire deserves some slack as he's 'not even trying to die on Earth' falling on deaf ears.
In the face of sustained booing, some people in the audience actually started to feel sorry for Musk, with Chappelle's fans saying they found that Musk 'withers' in the face of overwhelming boos and largely just stood on stage with his hands in his pockets.
However, others said the booing went on for 'five minutes solid' and the crowd of comedy fans had little sympathy or time for whatever the billionaire Twitter boss had to say to them.
Another person said Musk 'could not get a word in because of the boos' and remarked that 'a fight broke out', while someone else remarked that his appearance was a 'serious buzz kill'.

Musk actually isn't the richest man in the world any more, recently losing his top spot to French magnate Bernard Arnault, who is the chief of fashion giant Louis Vuitton.
The Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter boss has not been having the best of times of late, what with basically everything going on with Twitter right now, while the billionaire also claims people are trying to assassinate him.
Musk has explained that he thinks there's a 'quite significant' risk of him being assassinated and has claimed if he dies mysteriously everyone should immediately suspect foul play as he's 'not suicidal'.
