He wrote: "All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world.
"I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked."
Since the post was shared, it has been been liked over 260,000 times, with thousands of people piling into the comments to either show some support or question what he means by 'misinformation'.

One of the first people to get involved in the debate was Musk himself.
He wrote: "I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?"
Since he took over the company, Musk has made quite a few changes to how things are run, such as rolling back its covid misinformation policy.
The five-strike rule, which was born out of the pandemic, saw accounts suspended for spreading false information about the disease, vaccines, transmission, etc.

"Publicly traded company’s products being pushed in alignment with hate and white supremacy doesn’t seem to be a winning business model."
Milano later elaborated on her decision during an appearance on The View, saying it was, in part, due to sexual misconduct allegations made against the SpaceX founder that emerged earlier this year.
She explained: "Also, I'm so annoyed with all of these billionaires, with the exception of a few, but especially Elon Musk.
"You buy Twitter to destroy it for forty billion dollars, right? Forty billion dollars... imagine if he donated that money to UNICEF."
