Actor Glen Powell took to social media to explain himself after some internet sleuths did some digging on his jaw-dropping cannibal story.
Getting stories from actors can always be entertaining for anyone interested in what stuff we don’t see on screen. Some celebs might drop an embarrassing anecdote, a secret love affair or a hilarious personal story.
But Glen Powell had the internet clutching their pearls and shuddering with fear after dropping an alleged story about his sister’s friend on Jake Shane’s podcast Therapuss last month.

The Hit Man actor said his sister ‘was friends with a girl who went on a date with a guy’, who then apparently used some sort of ‘black market lotion’ on her.
This was after the date went particularly went well and they ended up back at his place... would be odd enough if he broke it out over wine and nibbles.
Powell said: "As she got back to his apartment, she started getting weird vibes like 'something feels off'. He's like, 'Can I give you a massage?' And she's like, 'Sure'."

He continued: “He starts massaging her shoulders [...] Everything just feels odd. She’s like, 'I gotta get out of here'. He gets a little weird 'Like, no, please don't leave, sorry', she leaves."
He closed by saying: "This man was rubbing lotion on her body to eat her. The doctor is like 'you have to give me this person’s address and you should call the police'. They go to this guy’s house, and he had several bodies in the house.”
Now if that story creeps you out you aren’t the only one, but the story is pretty much an urban myth, so it is more than a bit likely Powell’s sister’s friend was telling lies.

Many people on social media remarked that they had heard similar stories like this before, and were able to pull up receipts to old Reddit posts of people retelling this same story, albeit with slightly different details.
When Powell learned this though, he took to X and admitted he is now questioning everything, and I don’t blame him.
Writing on the platform he said: "Props to my little sister’s friend who told her this dating story… I’ve been telling this for years. I’m questioning my whole life now…
"False alarm. Back rubs are back."

No word yet on whether Powell knew it was a fake story, or whether he was duped just like the rest of the internet but like he said - back rubs are so back.
