People are saying James Corden should apologize to restaurant staff instead of the owner

People are saying James Corden should apologize to restaurant staff instead of the owner

"Funny how he was apologetic after every news outlet picked up this story".

People are not buying James Corden's apology to the fine dining restaurant that dubbed him 'the most abusive customer'.

Earlier this week, people were shocked but not surprised when Keith McNally – owner of the NYC eatery Balthazar – revealed that he had banned the late-night talk-show host from his establishment.

McNally did not hold back, alleging that Corden was disrespectful to restaurant staff in a lengthy Instagram post.

He wrote: "James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man...and the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago."

The restauranteur went on to describe two alleged incidents where Corden displayed less than appropriate behaviour.

Hours after the post, McNally made a dramatic U-turn by saying the ban had been lifted as the 44-year-old comedian 'apologized profusely' and it was all water under the bridge.

But fans are skeptical about the amends, with many saying Corden should say sorry to the waiters he offended rather than the owner.

For context, here are the manager's reports that allege how the comedian behaved at Balthazar.

The first states: "After eating his main course, Corden showed the hair to Balthazar manager G. who was very apologetic.

"Corden was extremely nasty to G, and said: 'Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I [won't] write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that.'"

In the second incident, after sending a dish back, it was mistakenly returned with fries instead of salad.

The report reads: "That's when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: 'You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!'"

Over on Twitter, numerous people are berating Corden for his actions, with some suggesting he only apologised to McNally after it made the headlines.

"Funny how he was apologetic after every news outlet picked up this story," wrote one, while another asked, "Would he have apologized if he weren’t called out?"

Others suggested he make a more formal apology to the waiters, including this person who said: "I hope he has the humility to rock over to Balthazar with a massive bunch of flowers, a massive apology and a massive tip for the server who had to put up with his entitled nonsense."

Another commented: "Hope he comes back and tips the waitstaff a ton of money!"
