Jeff Goldblum has issued a statement after getting caught red-handed doing something hilarious at the 2025 Academy Awards.
Last night (March 2), the 97th Oscars saw Sean Baker’s Anora walking away with the Best Picture gong, Adrian Brody reenacting his controversial kiss with X-Men’s Halle Berry, and Morgan Freeman delivering a heartbreaking tribute to the legendary Gene Hackman, who was found dead by officials on February 26.
Another viral 2025 Oscars moment setting the internet alight is how Goldblum passed the time before the main event began.

Despite not being nominated, the Jurassic Park veteran was attending the Academy Awards at the Los Angeles Dolby Theatre with his wife, Emilie Livingston, in support of Wicked.
The movie-musical ended up taking home the Best Costume Design and Best Production Design awards on the evening, losing out to competitive flicks like The Brutalist and Dune: Part Two Best in Original Score and Best Sound categories.
Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, also both walked away from the ceremony empty handed.
Ahead of the evening, Goldblum and Livingston walked the red carpet before heading into the hall an hour early.

And how did they pass the time? Well, kind of like we would—scrolling through social media.
Goldblum and his wife were caught staring at a picture of the former on Instagram, and the internet quickly erupted.

“Aww cute ... very relatable,” typed one social media user.

“Kinda cool to see this! Just like us,” replied someone else.
A third user wrote: “Talk about a crash course in fabulous confidence!”
Another echoed: “I love Jeff Goldblum like Jeff Goldblum loves Jeff Goldblum.”
Following the ceremony, Goldblum was caught on camera again. This time, he was asked to react to the viral appraisal photograph.

Still wearing his flamboyant Prada getup, the Kaos alumnus could be heard saying: “Oh my gosh look at that, let me see.”
As a reporter from Reuters showed Goldblum the viral photograph, Livingston immediately rushed to his defense.
“No in fact, we got to our seats an hour before [the ceremony]. What do you do when you try to kill time?”
Underneath his spouse, Goldblum could be heard saying: “Oh that’s funny.

“Wow. I’m busted.”
The reporter added that they would probably be doing the same thing, leading the actor to joke: “Where are more pictures of me, that’s my question?”
Goldblum, who was nominated for an Oscar back in 1996 for his live-action short film, Little Surprises, admitted he felt ‘lucky’ to still be invited to the annual awards show.
“It always feels like the first time for me, and to see it through Emilie’s golden eyes makes everything more,” he told reporters.
The actor is set to reprise his role as the Wizard in the Wicked sequel, Wicked: For Good, which is set to debut in cinemas this November.
