Jim Carrey has responded to the bizarre conspiracy that he is one of many people pretending to be US President Joe Biden, after claims that Biden was ‘an actor wearing a mask’.
The wild theory that Biden is not real has been circulating online for a while now, with some people convinced he is actually dead and is either being portrayed by actors or is a robot.
Comedian Jason Selvig, one half of comedy duo The Good Liars, shared a video on Twitter after speaking to a woman who believes in the ‘dopplegänger mask-wearing people’ conspiracy.

In the clip, he asks her: “You think Biden is not alive right now?”
She replies: “No. The guy that’s doing a stand-up job of trying to wake people up is an actor wearing a mask.
“I mean, there are several different people playing Joe Biden at this point.”

The woman, who was wearing a hat that had ‘TRUMP’ written on it, continued: “When he fell up the stairs going on the airplane, I myself think that that was Jim Carrey.
“I’ve heard that he was one of them.”
Selvig says: “Wait, wait, wait. You think Jim Carrey was wearing a mask and was the acting president?”
Nodding, the woman went on: “And being silly by falling up the stairs three different times.

“And James Woods is also one of the dopplegänger mask-wearing people.”
Selvig posted the footage on Twitter, writing: "I talked with a woman who believes Joe Biden is being played by several different actors – including Jim Carrey."
He added: "Big, if true."

The video has 3.6 million views and thousands of retweets and quote-tweets – including one from Carrey himself.
Re-sharing the footage, he simply write: "Oh dear."
Selvig then commented on Carrey's post, joking: "Be honest, was the woman we interviewed in this clip just you in a mask?"

Someone else replied philosophically: "Aren't we all just Jim Carrey in a mask pretending to be us?"
In fairness, Carrey's probably had better things to do with his time, having recently returned as Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
He's also shared plans to step back on acting altogether, having told Access Hollywood recently: "Well, I am retiring, I am being fairly serious.
"It depends – if the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink, that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might.
"I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break."
Carrey added: "I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like – and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough."
