Kim Kardashian has been named in a group of high-profile celebrities who have been asked to make a significant reduction in their water usage in California.
Southern California has been struggling with unprecedented drought and water restrictions for the past three years.
Despite this, a string of entertainment’s biggest stars has been going well beyond their water usage limit since a drought emergency was declared at the end of 2021.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Kim and her sister Kourtney Kardashian, Sylvester Stallone, Dwayne Wade, and Kevin Hart have all been issued ‘notices of exceedance’ by the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District.
The star-studded water wasters are among 2,000 customers who have used more than 150 per cent of their monthly water budgets at least four times since the state declared drought.
Talk about living in their own world.

However, the state reminded them that they weren’t above the law and issued their final warning.
The notice read: “Customers are expected to adhere to the water use reductions and water conservation measures that are in place due to this emergency.”
The Kardashians star’s Hidden Hills home and its adjacent lot exceeded their June water budget by whopping 878,000 litres.
Las Virgenes has imposed ‘Stage 3’ restrictions since June 1 in an effort to reduce water consumption by 50 per cent.

This meant that outdoor watering was limited to one day a week and only for eight minutes on that day.
These celebrities clearly didn’t get the memo.
Kourtney Kardashian’s Calabasas property exceeded the June budget by 382,000 litres.
And while the reality TV stars most definitely deserve a slap on the wrist, they weren’t even the worst perpetrators of the bunch.

NBA star Dwayne Wade and his family had exceeded their budget by more than 1,400 per cent or 340,000 litres in June.
But if you thought that was bad, that amount was far inferior to their ginormous water waste in May, where they went over budget by 1.85 million litres.
Wade says his family has since ‘taken drastic steps to reduce water usage in accordance with the new city guidelines’.

In June, Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin went over their allocated budget by 533 per cent, whilst Kevin Hart wasted 519 per cent more water than he was allowed.
Like a disappointed parent, Las Virgenes spokesman Mike McNutt called out the celebrities for the influence they have on the rest of the population.
He said, via Los Angeles Times: “People listen to you, people look at you, people value what you do... We need you to step up to the plate, to be examples and to be leaders so that other people will follow.
“That is the most critical thing that anybody in that bracket, or that has those resources, can do to influence and help with other people’s behaviour modifications.”
