Sadly, this isn't the first time a 'random act of violence' has taken place in New York recently.
Fellow Broadwalk Empire star Michael Stuhlbarg - who plays crime boss Arnold Rothstein in the show - was targeted earlier this year on 31 March.
The 55-year-old was hit in the back of a neck with a rock at around 7:45pm around the area of East 90th Street and East Drive.

Police later arrested a 27-year-old named Xavier Israel however, the person who attacked Buscemi is reportedly still out there, as per an update from a New York Police Department spokesperson yesterday (12 May).
In the attack on Buscemi, the New York Police Department has released surveillance photographs of the alleged attacker.
The images show a man in a bright blue t-shirt, wearing what seems to be a rucksack, alongside a dark cap and black sweatpants. The man also has a grey beard.
UNILAD has contacted Steve Buscemi's representatives and the New York Police Department for comment.
