Anne Hathaway was warned her career would ‘fall off a cliff’ after she turned 35

Well, she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Anne Hathaway reveals that she was told her career wouldn't last.

During a recent interview with Porter, the Les Miserables star said that she was immediately hit with some hard truths when she began her career.

“When I started out as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35, which is something I know a lot of women face,” she said.

My god, was she also told to freeze her eggs in the same meeting?

“The thing that has evolved during [that time] is that more women are having careers deeper into their lives, which I think is fantastic.

"Obviously, it doesn’t mean we should have a ticker tape parade — someone said this to me the other day: ‘There’s so much to be proud of and there’s so much to fix'."

The actor is set to star in the adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s Booker-nominated novel Eileen and has three films in the pipeline, including an upcoming psychological thriller alongside Jessica Chastain.

Considering the Academy Award-winning actor recently celebrated her 41st birthday, she's showing no signs of slowing down despite ‘her age’.

I mean, ageism in Hollywood is no secret.

Even just a couple of years ago, veteran actor Meryl Streep disclosed that the year she turned 40, she was offered the same character.

I mean, there’s nothing scarier when women turn 40! Look away, children!

"I was offered three witches [roles] when I turned 40 - in one year," she told ABC News.

"And I thought: 'Oh, this is how it's gonna go?'...At this point in my career, I think, I really think hard about: 'What am I putting into the world with each project?'"

My god, if it can happen to even Meryl, it can happen to any of us.

I can see it now, a Hollywood producer sitting down and telling the queen: “Meryl sweetie, baby, if you want to continue to play ball in this dog-eat-dog industry, here are the options: We either send you out for pasture or you play some old women casting spells on young perky 20-year-olds.”

Eventually, she did end up playing a witch in 2014’s Into The Woods.

Might we add that she was 64 at this point and still looking fabulous.
