Saltburn star addresses rumor he used a 'prosthetic' penis for naked dance scene

Saltburn star addresses rumor he used a 'prosthetic' penis for naked dance scene

Barry Keoghan revealed he originally wasn't even meant to be naked in the iconic Saltburn scene

A year on, Saltburn is still very much on everyone’s lips, particularly when it comes to Barry Keoghan and his ‘prosthetic’ on set.

If you haven’t watched the flick, it’s an absolute must.

There’s money, booze, crime and shocks galore, and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart.

There was also one scene in particular which had tongues wagging and jaws wide open, which was when Keoghan was seen slurping up some questionable ‘bath water’.

It was a shocking moment to say the least.

The story focuses on a student (Oliver) at the UK's Oxford University who becomes close with an aristocratic classmate (Jacob Elordi’s Felix), who invites him to his family's estate for a summer.

This ‘harrowing’ tale includes a lot of nudity too, in particular the Irish actor’s lower half being seen by audiences around the world.

However, many were wondering whether Keoghan was using a prosthetic to help him out during the infamous scene.

Luckily, he’s revealed all on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

The actor appeared on Monday, November 4, after Theroux asked him about it.

The 32-year-old was asked whether he had been using a prosthetic penis’ or had his body parts ‘enhanced’.

That’s when he responded: "Wait, enhanced? Who said that?

"Nah... Wow.

"It was all me, you know... it was a thing that I didn't really bat an eyelid to, you know, I would bat an eyelid if it didn't fit the story."

So, yes, Keoghan went fully nude.

As for the reason he felt that it was the right choice, he said: "I remember me and Emerald having the chats and it started off with my clothes [on]... she was like, 'We just need to make it a bit more ownership.'

“He's kind of got this mansion at the end. It's his space. And when you have that space... we all do it at home. We walk around naked, do you know what I mean? Because we're comfy and this is our environment.”

Of course, this was the scene in which Oliver dances naked to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’.

"So they said, 'Maybe it's better if you're naked?'" Theroux joked.

Keoghan replied: "Yeah, we got to that place... my hesitation was the dancing. I don't like dancing, you know.

"If it's required... weirdly, when it's the character, again, [it's] this kind of thing of, when it's not you, you'll do it.”

He shared that ‘it moves the script and the story forward’ then he’s game for anything.

He reiterated: "But yeah, I don't like dancing.”

In an interview for Vanity Fair's 30th annual Hollywood issue in February, the actor went on to open up about whether he felt objectified due to the scene.

"It’s crazy," Keoghan said.

He added: “It can be detrimental to the mind and your mental state if you read into it too much or you look at too much stuff being said.

“I wouldn’t go there if I wasn’t prepared for that, or if I wasn’t open to receiving what people want to say.”
