Britney Spears announces she's 'married' again in new social media post one year after her divorce

Britney Spears has opened up about getting married again and why it might seem 'embarrassing' or 'stupid' but is 'the most brilliant thing' she's 'ever done'.

Britney's last relationship with Sam Asghari saw the pair tie the knot in 2022 after six years of dating, before deciding to part ways after little more than a year into their marriage.

Asghari filed for divorce from the pop singer citing 'irreconcilable differences', however, has continued to speak fondly about Spears and their relationship.

Asghari reflected in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter while there have been moments where he's felt 'sad or upset' by his relationship with Spears coming to an end, he's mostly just 'happy that it ever even happened'

"Celebrate the past. That’s how I look at it," he added.

They decided to end their 'journey' together in 2023 and seemed to divorce on fairly good terms. Now, she appears to have moved on, remarrying in rather unusual fashion.

It would appear Spears has done her celebrating of the past and is now celebrating her new future, since revealing she's 'married' again around just a year after her and Asghari announced their divorce.

In a post to her Instagram page earlier today (October 21) to share a video of herself in a white wedding dress and veil.

The caption reads: "The day I married myself …

"Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done !!!"

And while Spears has turned off the comments section on her post, it's not taken long for fans to weigh in on Twitter.

Some have rallied in support behind the singer.

One Instagram user wrote: "I may be biased but I love everything she does! She’s truly iconic and just everything that a person wants to admire."

"She's very empowering, this will be followed by millions of people across the globe," another added.

A third said: "Congrats to britney spears for marrying herself."

"Britney Spears married herself. And I am wholeheartedly here for that take on life," a fourth wrote.

Whereas others are a bit confused or simply concerned by the whole thing.

A user wrote: "It'll never last."

"Somebody should check on this woman...," another added.

A third commented: "I thought she was dressing up for Halloween."

And a fourth simply resolved: "Well, she is doing her own thing, that is for sure."
