Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andre Braugher has sadly died at 61

Andre Braugher, star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has tragically died at the age of 61.

The sad news has been confirmed by the actor's publicist, Jennifer Allen, to Variety.

Deadline says the 61-year-old died after a 'brief illness'.

He is probably most well known for playing Captain Ray Holt on the hit cop comedy TV show.

Fans of the series have been absolutely devastated by the news.

One wrote: "I am so heartbroken, Andre Braugher you will always be so loved thank you for bringing captain holt to our screens."

Another added: "Andre Braugher was incredible on Homicide, but he was an absolute treasure as Captain Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

A third said: "Rest in peace, Andre Braugher. An absolute force of an actor and a treasure on and off screen. Thank you for all the warmth and joy and laughs. Rest easy, captain."
