Viral celebrity look-alike trend is leaving fans mind-blown after thinking they were the ‘exact same person’

Viral celebrity look-alike trend is leaving fans mind-blown after thinking they were the ‘exact same person’

Fans have admitted to being in the dark for years about which celebrity was which

We often recognize celebrities from their appearances on TV, in movies and online, but a viral trend involving look-alikes might just have you second-guessing your confidence.

We're not talking about similar noses or smiles here, but full-on doppelgängers - stars who could have you convinced they're 'definitely that guy from that other movie!', only to find out they're someone else entirely.

The trend started when one Twitter user took to the platform to share a photo of Criminal Minds actor Rochelle Aytes alongside Barbie's Margot Robbie, claiming they looked like the same person, but with different skin colors.

What followed was a whole thread of other stars who look similar, with people often struggling to wrap their heads around the notion that the images show two different people.

Javier Bardem and Jeffrey Dean Morgan

One is the Academy Award-winning actor from Skyfall, the other is the critically acclaimed star of The Walking Dead, but on Twitter, Bardem and Morgan have been described as 'the same person'.

The revelation that they are, in fact, two different people has left fans of their respective movies stunned, with one person admitting: "For a very long time I thought Javier Bardem looked a little different in P.S I love you. I should've just googled the cast right away and saved myself the confusion."

Another wrote: "For the absolute longest time I thought they were the exact same person! But also have we ever seen them in the same room together?"

Rosario Dawson and Zoe Saldana

Also featuring on the look-alikes thread are Dawson and Saldana, both of who are well known in Hollywood for their work on both the big and small screen.

Dawson in known for her roles in 2005's Rent and Sin City, and more recently has appeared in the Netflix series Dopesick and Disney+'s Ahsoka.

Meanwhile, Saldana has been busy working on Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avatar movies - both of which obscured her look with colorful makeup.

Saldana played a human in the popular Netflix series From Scratch, but apparently that wasn't enough to stop people from confusing her and Dawson, with one Twitter user saying: "I always get Rosario and Zoe mixed up."

Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman

Two Hollywood staples - and yet some people still can't tell them apart.

Knightley, who starred in Pirates of the Carribean, and Portman, from Black Swan and Marvel's Thor, have long been compared, so it's no surprise they made an appearance in the viral thread.

In fact, Portman has previously spoken out on their similarities.

In an interview with Variety, she admitted that she gets mistaken for Knightley 'all the time' butt she finds it 'very flattering'.

Taylor Russell and Jenna Ortega

While Ortega has been making a name for herself through Wednesday, Scream and now Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Russell has been busy starring in movies like Bones and All and Escape Room.

Both stars have appeared in a Netflix series - with Russell starring in the sci-fi series Lost in Space - so their resemblance to one is just another thing they have in common.

Sharing their thoughts on their similarities, one Twitter user wrote: "Yeah nah God’s running outta faces or something lol… why am I just now noticing that Taylor Russell and Jenna Ortega look like twins?"

Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard

Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, Molly's Game... they're just some of the titles Chastain has appeared in throughout her career, but in a TikTok video shared in 2021, she lamented: "When you spend 20 years building a career and they still think you work at Jurassic Park."

The list goes on, with Lili Reinhart and Brittany Murphy, and Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly also among the stars who have been compared to one another - and with new celebrities emerging all the time, who knows who will be next?
