Cher speaks out on accusations that she hired men to ‘kidnap’ son Elijah Blue Allman

Cher speaks out on accusations that she hired men to ‘kidnap’ son Elijah Blue Allman

A report emerged that the singer hired four people to 'kidnap' her younger son in 2022

Cher has responded to allegations that she hired four men to 'kidnap' her son from a hotel in New York last year.

A report surfaced last month that Cher allegedly hired four people to abduct her younger son Elijah Blue Allman, 47, from a hotel in New York City in November 2022.

The reports surfaced when Elijah's estranged wife Marieangela King made the claims in divorce papers she filed last December.

Cher has denied the allegations of abduction, telling PEOPLE 'that rumor is not true'.

She has confirmed that the issue, described as a 'private family matter', is related to her son's struggle with addiction.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the star said: “I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t."

She continued: “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children.

"Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”

In the divorce papers King alleged that Cher had hired the men to remove Elijah from their hotel room because they had been attempting to 'reconcile'. She claims that Cher had allegedly done this because she had been concerned for her son's wellbeing.

King went on to claim that she and Elijah had been 'working on [their] marriage', spending 12 days alone together between 18 November and 30 November.

In the documents she also claimed that one of the men had told her that Cher had hired them.

At the time, she also claimed that she was 'unaware' of where Elijah was, saying in the documents: “I am currently unaware of my husband's wellbeing or whereabouts. I am very concerned and worried about him."

She added: “I understand his family’s efforts to make sure he is well, and I want what is best for my husband.”

Cher has gone on to say that she will always be there for her children.

She said: "I could fill a . . . I don’t even know, something gigantic with what I don’t know [about parenting]. I just keep trying.”

The pair have had an up and down relationship over the years.

He told the Daily Mail: “I don’t think it’s anything she doesn’t know or hasn’t acknowledged. I know it’s a real regret, a real thing that for sure haunts her. I definitely know that the intent has been genuine. It’ll be mended because it has to be, it will just take time.”
