Chris Brown domestic violence documentary is in the works as new accuser comes forward

Quiet on Set network Investigation Discovery is behind the new film, releasing this month

Chris Brown's legal troubles are set to be examined under the spotlight once more in a new documentary.

Chris Brown: A History of Violence debuts on Investigation Discovery later this month.

The singer, 35, has enjoyed commercial success with singles including 'Turn Up The Music', 'Loyal' and 'Gimme That'.While he's widely considered the 'King of R&B', Brown's history of domestic violence is no secret.

He's faced domestic violence and assault charges, as well as sexual assault allegations over the years.

In 2009, he infamously beat then-girlfriend Rihanna, causing facial injuries that required hospitalization.

Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault, accepting a plea deal.

Brown went on to face further separate legal troubles in the following years, including being sued by a woman alleging sexual assault. This case was settled out of court.

And now, as revealed in the A History of Violence trailer, another accuser has come forward with fresh allegations against Brown.

The woman, who remains anonymous, says in the trailer: “I have not spoken about this matter publicly, but that’s the only way he can be stopped.”

The documentary is expected to chart Chris Brown’s past all the way back to his troubled childhood, and explore the lasting impact of the cycle of abuse, posing the question: how does a man with such a violent public record maintain his superstar status?

The logline from Investigation Discovery, the network also behind the Nickelodeon docu-series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, reads: "With expert and cultural commentary layered throughout, the documentary provides thoughtful reflections into each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction in the aftermath of their abuse.”

The previous Nickelodeon series, released by ID earlier this year, centred on show creator Dan Schneider, with cast and crew members who worked with him in the late 90s and early 00s recalling instances of alleged sexism, racism and inappropriate behavior with young cast members. Schneider has since denied all allegations.

Next, Investigation Discovery is set to release a docu-series on Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who has made headlines after being arrested and charged with racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion earlier this month - charges he denies.

He has now also been accused of impregnating and drugging a woman in a new lawsuit lodged last week.
