Ellen DeGeneres has opened up about why she's 'done' with the industry after her Netflix special.
The TV chat show host has been shrouded in controversy ever since accusations arose of her fostering a 'toxic' workplace environment, even leading to the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show after 19 years.
Despite being 'kicked out of show business,' DeGeneres has powered on, continuing her career in entertainment in the form of a stand-up tour, however, at one of her latest tour dates, she revealed she's not planning on hanging round the industry for much longer.
In May 2022, DeGeneres show came to an abrupt end after allegations of racism, sexual misconduct and intimidation at the hands of three executive producers who worked on the show arose.

DeGeneres claimed to not have known about the allegations, alas, the ferocity of cancel culture took its toll and in DeGeneres view, she was 'kicked out of show business' for the second time, later adding she was expecting to be a third time too because of her being 'mean, old and gay'.
However, those who oppose the TV host may not get the chance to kick her out a third time, because it appears DeGeneres is planning on making the move for them.
On Monday (July 8), DeGeneres took to the stage at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa in California, US, for one of her three-night sets of her tour Ellen’s Last Stand…Up and revealed she doesn't have plans to stick round in the industry for much longer.

An audience member asked the comedian, as quoted by SFGate: "Will we see you on Broadway or movies?"
DeGeneres quickly responded: "Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done."
Despite another audience remember imploring her to at least reprise her role of Dory at some point, DeGeneres resolved: "No, I’m going bye-bye, remember."
But why now?

Well, elsewhere in the set, DeGeneres reflected how she 'used to say' she '[didn't] care what people say about' her.
However, she added: "Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity."
So, with DeGeneres' Netflix hour-long special expected to land on the streaming service towards the end of this year, it looks like 2024 will be the year we finally wave goodbye to seeing DeGeneres on our screens.
