Emma Stone no longer wants to go by Emma Stone.
No, the Kinds of Kindness star doesn't want to now go by something outlandish like Regina Phalange or Holden McGroin, but her birth-given name instead.
Dozens of celebrities in Hollywood have stage names - some being more obvious than some. For example, Vin Diesel isn't the Fast and Furious star's real name. He's actually called Mark Sinclair.

Elsewhere, Jamie Foxx's real name is Eric Marlon Bishop.
Some famous faces might opt for what they deem as a more interesting or memorable name, but Stone had to change her name for a different reason.
When you become a professional actor, you have to join SAG-AFTRA for a variety of reasons and, if someone already has your registered name, then you simply have to pick another one to go by.

Chatting to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year alongside her The Curse co-star Nathan Fielder, Fielder said: "Before we continue, I’d like to say something.
"Her name’s Emily, but she goes by Emma professionally.
"So when there’s people that don’t know her, I end up saying Emma. But I’m going to just say Emily from here on."

The actor was then asked if anyone in Hollywood refers to her by Emily, to which she replied: "When I get to know them, people that I work with do. It’s just because my name was taken [by another actress in SAG].
"Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.' Nathan calls me Em, which is easier."
When asked if she would be bothered if a fan in the street called her by her birth name, she added that it would be 'so nice' to go by Emily.
"No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily." Stone said.

As to where the name 'Emma' came from, she drew inspiration from 90s pop group, The Spice Girls.
When she was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2018, Stone shared: "Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what? Now I am."
She went on to note that she didn't pick the name solely because of Bunton, but did admit she started referring to herself as 'Emma' in second grade because she was such a Spice Girls fan.

"It wasn’t necessarily because of [Bunton] but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher on the first day and ask her to call me Emma? Yes I did," she said.
And the rest was history.
