George Clooney goes off on Quentin Tarantino telling him to 'f**k off' over criticism

George Clooney goes off on Quentin Tarantino telling him to 'f**k off' over criticism

The actor got touchy about comments the director made on his movie star status

When you pair up two best friends to do anything it's guaranteed to be a great time. But when those two best friends are George Clooney and Brad Pitt you get absolute press chaos.

The duo are gearing up for the release of their upcoming action-comedy flick Wolfs, and have kicked off their press circuit with a joint cover story for GQ.

In the profile, the Hollywood veterans got candid about the state of movie stardom and whether or not it still exists in the same capacity as it did during their heyday in the early aughts.

While discussing the current state of movie stars, Clooney playfully took a jab at his former From Dusk Till Dawn co-star and esteemed director Quentin Tarantino for comments that he made on Clooney's star status.

"Quentin said some s**t about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him," Clooney began.

"He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about [Brad], and somebody else, and then this guy goes, 'Well, what about George?' He goes, 'He’s not a movie star.'

"And then he literally said something like, 'Name me a movie since the millennium.' And I was like, 'Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f***ing career.'”

"So now I’m like, all right, dude, f**k off. I don’t mind giving him s**t. He gave me s**t," Clooney added.

"But no, look, we’re really lucky we got to work with these great directors," he clarified. "Director and screenplay is what keeps you alive. And I learned that after doing some really bad films."

Although Clooney's last acting role in a film was in David Cotton's 2022 flick Ticket to Paradise alongside his other Hollywood bff Julia Roberts, the actor is slated to make a comeback and has a slew of projects in the works including an untitled Noah Baumbach film for Netflix.

Clooney is now in his 40th year of being an actor which he shared he doesn't take for granted.

"I remember I talked to [Matt] Damon about this 25 years ago, when he first hit with his movie and won the Oscar,” Clooney told GQ. "I was like, 'Just know that if you get a 10-year career, playing at that level, it’s an absolute jackpot.' Nobody sustains it much longer than that. So yeah, I’m surprised that I still have the work."

And we're all still so happy to have you here George.
