An 'intense' moment between Nicole Kidman and Jodie Foster at the Golden Globes has been analyzed by a body language expert.

Can two women not have a nice catch-up with each other without it being blown out of proportion? Apparently not.

At the 82nd Golden Globes Awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California last night (January 5), actors Nicole Kidman and Jodie Foster were spotted deep in conversation which piqued the interest of viewers.

A video shared to Twitter by New York Times writer Kyle Buchanan shows the actors chatting during the commercial break of the awards ceremony.

The caption reads: "Nicole Kidman is *locking in* to this intense conversation with Jodie Foster during the Golden Globes commercial break."

The clip shows Kidman - nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a motion picture-drama for her role in Babygirl - and Foster - who won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture made for television in a Limited Series her role in True Detective: Night Country - in conversation.

Kidman can be seen nodding her head and maintaining a strong level of eye contact with her fellow actor.

The camera then pans to the side, showing the actors smiling at one another, talking in an animated fashion, with Foster seen laughing and seemingly shrugging her shoulders at one point before rising up, as the chat seemingly comes to an end.

One Twitter user wrote: "I hope they're planning on something together! That would be beyond."

"I need a lip reader immediately," another added.

Alas for social media users, while a lip reader is being found, a body language expert will have to do in the meantime, having since weighed in on the video.

Body language expert Judi James analysed Foster as not only 'combining the proximity' between herself and Kidman but she's also holding 'strong eye contact too,' she told Mail Online.

There's also 'small shaking movements' going on between the actors, the pair appearing 'emphasize' certain 'words to each other'.

James reflects how Kidman is known for her 'ethereal, wafting, elegant vibe', whereas Foster is 'known for her tough interrogative roles' making the interaction seem even more 'intense'.

One one hand, the expert notes the eye contact, close proximity and 'mismatch of body language styles' 'could suggest dominance or even conflict,' however, given photographs of the pair embracing throughout the night as they're posing for photographs, alongside James noting there's clear 'signals of friendship'.

It's probably not that deep - it's giving bumping into an old friend in the bathroom sort of energy. And just how expressive the pair are? Well, they are actors after all.
