Jennifer Aniston tears up as she reflects on Friends hitting milestone 30th anniversary

Jennifer Aniston tears up as she reflects on Friends hitting milestone 30th anniversary

Jennifer Aniston was moved to tears when she reflected on Friends turning 30

While Friends is still very much a part of people's lives to this day, many will be surprised to know just how long ago it actually premiered.

The popular sitcom made waves across the globe when it first aired on NBC, and is still being watched in many households now as it's available to stream on services like Netflix.

And Friends will soon hit a huge milestone and celebrate its 30th anniversary in September, having first aired in September 1994.

It'll be a bittersweet time for the cast, however, in the wake of Matthew Perry - who starred as Chandler Bing in to show - unexpectedly dying last year.

The topic was discussed as part of Variety's annual 'Actors and Actors', where Aniston was paired up with Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson.

Brunson was tasked with asking Aniston what it's like to watch Friends now, and before she could even answer, The Morning Show star started tearing up.

"Don't make my cry," Aniston urged, but Brunson noted that she was already getting emotional.

"Do you want a minute? We don't have to talk about [Friends]," Brunson replied.

Insisting that she was okay to proceed, Aniston said she started thinking about something that was making her emotional.

"It's happy tears," she said, while wiping them from her face.

Getting herself together and going on to answer the question, Aniston joked that it was a 'coincidence' that both Friends and her were turning 30.

Weighing into the joke, Brunson added: "When you were a baby on that show, you were so advanced."

Aniston continued to hail it 'crazy' that the show is now three decades old and recalled what she did the day it first aired on NBC.

"I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television, on NBC: Matthew Perry and I were having lunch somewhere, and we knew Lisa [Kudrow] was getting her hair colored," the 55-year-old shared.

"So we ran into the hair salon, and I snuck up - she was in the sink - and I took the nozzle from the guy that was supposed to be doing it and just started washing her hair.

“It definitely flew out of control, and that was unfortunate. But the excitement we had, it feels like yesterday."

The original Friends cast did a reunion episode back in 2021, however, it remains unclear if they'll do another to mark its 30th anniversary.
