Significant reason why Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on this date

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck and a source has revealed why the date she did so is so significant.

Apparently the last week or so has marked break-up season, whether it be Love Islanders or actors.

And if you've similarly experienced a heartbreak and don't want to feel alone in your misery, then don't worry because Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have you covered.

News broke Lopez had reportedly filed legal documents for divorce from Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior court yesterday (August 20).

The Hustlers star reportedly filed the documents by herself, without an attorney, TMZ reported and she also did so on a pretty significant date.

After embarking on a relationship in the early 2000s and even getting engaged, the pair ultimately called their wedding off and went their separate ways.

In 2021, Affleck and Lopez struck up their romance once again, getting married on July 16, 2022 in Las Vegas and heading to Savannah, Georgia for a traditional ceremony which took place on August 20, 2022.

And so Lopez's filing for divorce seemingly came exactly two years after their traditional ceremony - with a source since addressing the significance of this date.

A source told People that Lopez was 'done waiting' by the time she decided to file for divorce - the legal documents stating the date of their separation as April 26, 2024.

They continued: "And the date she did it [filed for divorce] speaks a ton."

Another insider also told the outlet: "She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken. The kids are a top priority, as they always have been."

Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck also has three children - Violet, Seraphina and Samuel - who's mother is fellow actor and Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner.

The legal documents - seen by the BBC - reportedly state that both actors must share their financial information, however, it doesn't mention any details of a prenuptial agreement between the pair.

Lopez reportedly has 60 days to disclose her financial information - including her properties, current income, expenses and debt - with Affleck also having 60 days after she submits her report.

In July, the pair's Beverly Hills mansion was spotted as being listed for sale, the property put on the market for a whopping $68 million - with the pair having allegedly bought it for $61 million in May 2023.
