Jessica Lange has revealed she's contemplating leaving Hollywood now that it’s putting ‘profits over creativity’.
The actor, who made a name for herself in American Horror Story, Tootsie and King Kong, recently sat down with The Telegraph to talk about the entertainment industry.
In her interview, Lange admitted she's possibly thinking of retiring after almost 50 years in the biz.

“I think I’m going to start phasing out of filmmaking,” she told the outlet.
When asked by journalist Dayla Alberge if that meant she would quit acting for good, Lange replied: “I don’t think I’ll do this too much longer.”
She added that her decision has nothing to do with her age but her ‘sense of deep disillusionment’ with the type of content being churned out today.

She reckons Hollywood’s priority is now just about the paycheque.
“Creativity is secondary now to corporate profits,” she said.
“The emphasis becomes not on the art or the artist or the storytelling. It becomes about satisfying your stockholders. It diminishes the artist and the art of filmmaking."
She said that ‘wonderful films by really great filmmakers, wonderful stories, great characters’ are incredibly ‘rare’ now, adding that she had no desire to see about 90 per cent of the movies made today.

It’s no surprise she’s not a Marvel or DC fan.
“I’m not interested in these big comic-book franchise films. I think that they’ve sacrificed this art that we’ve been involved in … for the sake of profit,” the 74-year-ols continued.
The Sweet Dreams star added the superhero genre drives her 'crazy', before touching upon the ‘ageism’ that runs deep in Tinseltown.

“Even when it’s run by women, I don’t see a huge difference,” she added.
However, this isn’t the first time the American Horror Story actor has delved into ageism in Hollywood.
While sitting down with AARP in 2017, Lange said how ‘persuasive' it is, noting the double standard in the industry.
“You don’t often see women in their 60s playing romantic leads, yet you will see men in their 60s playing romantic leads with costars who are decades younger,” she said.

“I think about how few wonderful actresses of my generation are still doing viable, important film work. You go to television. You go to the stage. You do whatever you can because you want to keep working,” Lange continued.
