And many fans have taken the announcement as a hint that Siwa is moving away from her previous material, which was directed towards children.
Some think that she may be following in the footsteps of artists like Miley Cyrus, who successfully transitioned from her early career as Hannah Montana to music aimed at a more grown up audience.
If this is indeed the direction that Siwa is taking that could mark a big change in her output and her image, if Cyrus is anything to go by.
In the post on her social media, Siwa wrote: “The following content is not made for children and may be disturbing or offensive to some viewers.

"May contain sexual themes, violence, strong language, traumatic scenes and flashing lights. Viewer discretion is advised.”
It's not the first hint on the star's Instagram profile that change is coming.
Posts a week prior to the announcement show her in what appears to be a studio or rehearsal space.

Far from the sparkly pictures further down on her feed, in one snap she is wearing black and flipping off the camera with both hands.
Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the star's new direction as many begged to know 'what this means'.
One reflected on the challenges of reinventing yourself after being cast in such a strong image for your career.
They wrote: "I'm curious about what is happening. It is not easy to develop a totally new style as an adult artist. I wish you all the best JoJo. Be you and be happy."

Another excited fan was delighted that the star seemed about to express herself how she wanted.
They posted: "Well no one can say they weren’t warned!! Welcome to your freedom Joelle!"
Someone else was convinced this would mean more music, but as to what shape that might take, that's anyone's guess.

They speculated: "She is releasing new music, huh, kinda curious on how it's gonna sound."
Another said simply: "Ngl I’m a little scared."
The latest posts on her page could offer some more insight. The top three are all in monochrome, showing a partial view of Siwa's face, a close up of her hair being braided, and her ear with what looks like a lot of jewellery - all with the caption: "I should've known better."
While her bio also says the same phrase.
And when you click through to her website, the same theme is followed along with options to 'Pre-add on Apple' or 'Pre-save on Spotify'.
The mystery deepens!
