Nun’s chilling final words before she collapsed and died in court in middle of Katy Perry property legal dispute

Nun’s chilling final words before she collapsed and died in court in middle of Katy Perry property legal dispute

Katy Perry has been embroiled in various property disputes over the years, but one meeting with a nun turned tragic when the woman uttered a harrowing five-word plea before dying in court.

Earlier this year, Perry, 39, finally won her four-year-long real estate battle against Carl Westcott, 85, and secured ownership of a Californian home.

In May 2020, the entrepreneur claimed he’d been in a ‘mentally incapacitated’ state when he sold the pop star the $15 million home and that he wanted to reverse the sale.

However, after almost half a decade of back-and-forth, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge eventually ruled in Perry's favor, and on May 17, she filed the deed under her limited liability company, DDoveB.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that the ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer has found someone unwilling to hand over their property to her.

In 2015, Perry agreed to buy an LA-based convent from Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 89, and the sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Despite getting approval from the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Perry was denied the sale of the $14.5 million property.

The residents claimed they were ‘uncomfortable’ selling the property to Perry after they had ‘found’ her music videos online.

Instead, they decided to sell the convent to restaurateur, Dana Hollister, despite the star reportedly trying to win them over.

The archdiocese later took the nuns to court and it was ruled that the sisters had no right to sell the property to Hollister, as per the BBC.

Fox11 LA later reported that Hollister had been convicted of malice and fraud and was ordered to pay the archdiocese millions in damages for trying to interfere with the sale.

Ahead of the initial ruling, which saw Perry and the Catholic Church being awarded almost $10 million in damages, Sister Catherine Rose spoke to Fox11 LA in what would be her last interview.

She issued a plea for Perry to halt the court proceedings.

“To Katy Perry, please stop,” she told the news outlet. “It's not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people.”

Hours after giving the interview, the nun - who had lived on the property since 1973 - collapsed and died in court.

Following Holzman's death, the convent was later put back on the market.

In a new interview, Perry has admitted that she and Orlando Bloom are keen on moving to London.

Appearing on The One Show on Thursday (July 25) she said: “I love London… beyond Santa Barbara, my hometown, Orlando and I spend so much time in London and lately we’ve been thinking about maybe splitting our time.

“We love it so much, we feel like you guys are really refined.

“We spent all day in Hyde Park yesterday, we went to the Princess Diana playground. It’s great for kids.”

She added that her daughter, Daisy Dove, three, had enjoyed a ‘dinosaur-themed high tea today’ before remarking: “I mean, where else can you do that?”
