Keke Palmer made a bold statement about being a 'motha' during a recent performance where she tweaked one of her song’s lyrics after her boyfriend publicly shamed her outfit.
The outspoken multi-hyphenate performer, 29, wore an outfit to Usher’s Las Vegas residency show earlier this month that sparked some controversy because her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, 28, was not best pleased.
Shortly after a video emerged online of the ‘U Remind Me’ singer serenading the Nope actor, Jackson tweeted: “It’s the outfit tho… you a mom.”
In the clip, Palmer can be seen serving in a sheer black dress over a bodysuit, and fans were quick to defend the former Nickelodeon star after Jackson's statement.

Although Palmer has yet to address the controversy directly, which she doesn't have to, she made a not-so-subtle reference to it during a performance at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington D.C. on Sunday (16 July).
Taking to the stage wearing a skin-tight bejewelled black bodysuit, Palmer gave her 2018 track ‘Bossy’ a slight remix by switching up the lyrics to include a reference to her infant son, Leodis Andrellton Jackson - who she shares with Jackson - and it didn’t go over the heads of her fans.
The usual lyrics read: "Lil booty's matter, don't need a lot of ass."
But in the new version she declared: “Lil booties matter, my son gave me some ass.

“I’m my own boss and I got my own cash/ I don’t need a n****, only thing I need’s a bag."
The performance was captured and shared on TikTok where it has racked up just under four million views and over 698,000 likes.
“Y’all seeing the other side of a Virgo now,” one fan commented, referring to Palmer's astrological sign.

Two days after her boyfriend’s public meltdown about her outfit, Palmer announced she was selling ‘I’M A MOTHA’ t-shirts in an Instagram post which also gave a shout-out to all mothers.
The post was accompanied with an adorable clip of Leodis on his mom's lap. The caption read: “One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through!
