The couple were staying at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, having traveled together to support the 31-year-old's old bandmate Niall Horan, whose concert took place on October 2. Alittle over a week later Cassidy opted to leave the South American capital and head back to their home in Florida.
Meanwhile, Payne had decided to carry on vacationing, when he tragedy struck as he fell from a third-floor balcony.
Speaking about the night, Argentine Director of Emergency Medical Services, Alberto Crescenti said on the nation's Todo Noticias TV channel: " At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.
"At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group.

"Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."
Now, Cassidy, who has moved out of their rented home in Florida to move back to New Jersey, has revealed where she was and how she felt the moment she found out her lover had passed away.
“I feel blessed I didn’t find out over social media because I just couldn’t even imagine that. I was in our home with our dog, scrolling TikTok and one of Liam’s friends called me," she told The Sun.

"That moment, it’s like blank; it’s blacked out in my head.
"I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. Then instantly I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I was like, ‘Why would somebody make this up? Is this true?’"
Cassidy continued: "And I feel like I just completely blacked out. When I officially found the news out to be true, I felt numb. I tried to call him. I called pretty much everybody.

"Then I was in touch with his family, and my mum got the first flight out to be with me. I remember pacing around the house — poor Nala [Payne and Cassidy's dog] thought I was trying to play, she kept jumping up at me. I didn’t sleep at all that night."
Cassidy, who at times during the interview would speak about Payne in the present-tense, also explained how the ordeal still 'doesn't feel full real' and how she thinks about Payne 'every second of every day'.
Cassidy described the singer as her soulmate, saying how 'humble' and 'charming' he was and how despite all the fame, he was one of the most normal people 'you could ever hope to come across.'
