Maya Hawke has embraced the title of 'nepo baby' in a recent interview.
The term is used to describe someone who people feel is only in a certain position, either in their career or financially because of their parents.
It's used to criticise nepotism in various fields, including law, medicine, and politics, but probably most commonly in acting and music.

It can mean anything from having parents who are famous actors, directors, or producers in their own right to simply having the financial security to be able to pursue a career in the arts without having to worry about paying rent.
Unfortunately, unless you're one of the rarified few, acting or music aren't exactly high-paying.
This doesn't mean people don't work hard or are bad at their jobs, it's just much easier to land auditions if you don't also have two or three side hustles to juggle to pay your bills.
But while many people might shy away from this label, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke appears to have embraced it.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, the 25-year-old said: "There are so many people who deserve to have this kind of life who don't, but I think I'm comfortable with not deserving it and doing it anyway.
"And I know that my not doing it wouldn't help anyone."
That's certainly embracing it!

She went on to talk about how when she started she considered that there was another option to get away from her famous parents, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.
Maya said: "I saw two paths when I was first starting, and one of them was: change your name, get a nose job and go to open casting roles."
In the end, she decided to simply own and acknowledge that she has famous parents.

All the same, Maya did add that she thinks being in the position she's in means she's okay with being 'made fun of' up to a point.
Maya said: "It's okay to be made fun of when you're in rarefied air. It's a lucky place to be."
Nonetheless, she made it clear that there is more to her relationship with her parents than this, saying that she has a 'positive' relationship with them.
She said: "My relationships with my parents are really honest and positive, and that supersedes anything anyone can say about it."
