Amid constant speculation, Meryl Streep has responded to rumors she's dating her longtime friend Martin Short.
Fans can't get enough of celebrity romances, and any indication there may be one leads to thousands jumping on the bandwagon.
And over the years, many have questioned whether Only Murders in the Building co-stars Streep and Short could be dating.

Over the last few months, many fans have taken to social media to predict there is some kind of romance going on there.
"My first tweet of the year is dedicated to the rumor that Meryl Streep and Martin Short may be an item," one person penned.
They added: "If the rumor is true, I am not prepared for it.
"It’s as if the comedy and drama masks themselves were merging. I adore them both and wish them well in any predicament."

A second speculated: "Martin Short and Meryl Streep - be the power couple of 2024 we all need, if you aren’t already."
While a third penned: "If Martin Short and Meryl Streep are dating that's the biggest power couple going."
However, a representative for Streep has since shut down the rumor mill, telling Page Six: "They are just friends."

Previously, Short has expressed his admiration for Streep.
He told Extra: "I think it’s been a friendship that always grows if you work with someone and love that person."
It was announced last year that Streep had been secretly separated from her husband Don Gummer six years prior.
As for Short, he has been single since the death of his wife Nancy Dolman in 2010 from ovarian cancer.

While it may be Streep's representatives denying the speculation now, it was Short's people who quashed the rumors back in January.
To mark the beginning of the year, fans spotted the acting pair looking rather close at a star-studded event.
However, a representative for The Santa Clause 3 star told E! News the pair are 'just good friends'.
The rep added: "They are just very good friends, nothing more."
So, there you have it. Fans might have been shipping the pair, but they really are just good pals.
