Millie Bobby Brown has revealed that she didn't want to talk again after receiving a harsh backlash from haters.
Having fame thrust on you at a young age and having to adjust to your new life can't be easy, and Brown's experience seems to have been no exception.
Glamor has now named Brown one of their women of the year. She revealed how she is bucking the trend with 'relatability' and acknowledging that frankly her life is not what most of us would call 'normal', saying: "I'm someone who wakes up, drinks a kombucha, and pets my donkey you know?"

The star revealed how she has not always had the confidence that she now displays, particularly in the early days.
She said: “We’re kids—we talk over each other. I was just penalized for over-talking and oversharing and being too loud.”
Brown explained that she was even accused of 'trying to steal the thunder' of the other cast members.

She told how adults had called her 'an idiot', 'stupid', and 'a brat' when she was just 13 years old.
She said: “It’s hard to hear that at 13. You’re like, ‘I don't want to ever talk again. I don’t want to be the loud person'.”
So, for a while at least, she stopped.
“In interviews I couldn’t help but think of all the comments," she said. "So I just remembered to stay silent and speak when I was spoken to, even though I was dying to join in. I just felt it wasn’t my turn.”

Now, Brown has moved beyond acting, publishing her first novel as well as starting up new businesses after her success in Stranger Things on Netflix.
But despite looking to the future, she is also protective of child stars who are now going through the same process.
She said: “You cannot speak on children that are underage. I mean, our brains physically have not grown yet. To diminish and practically stunt someone’s growth mentally, strip them down, tell them, ‘Hey, listen, you don’t look that great'.

"'Why are you wearing that? How dare you think you can wear that? How dare you say that?'.”
This environment has led her to take a strict approach to who she allows into her life.
She said: “This is my life, and the only people that are allowed are the people that I open the gate for. Other than that, everybody’s out.
"And yes, it’s sad. There are trust issues. And yes, I have issues with having friends. I don’t have a lot of friends. Yes, I block out a lot of people. I’m a reserved person, socially.”
