Nick Jonas has likened the beloved Disney Channel Games to being like Love Island ‘on crack’.
In June 2006, an all-star sporting competition dubbed the Disney Channel Games premiered on Disney Channel.
The annual event saw international actors such as Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Zac Efron competing against each other to raise vital funds for various charities.
In 2008, all three of the Jonas brothers - Kevin, Joe and Nick - went head-to-head; with Nick’s Infernos eventually coming out on top and taking home the coveted Disney Channel Games Cup.

Almost 16 years later, Nick, now 31, has opened up what it was like to experience the monthlong games on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In the opening moments of the chat, the Camp Rock actor revealed he’d skipped the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony to speak to the 49-year-old.
After hearing his guest discuss his love for the summer games, Fallon quipped: “You never competed in the Olympics of course but you did however compete in the Disney [Channel] Games.”
To remind the ‘Jealous’ singer of his past sporting achievements, the New York-born host showed a picture taken at the 2008 DC Games.

In the image, Nick was wearing his red Inferno uniform and was joined by his elder brothers Kevin and Joe, who were competing for the Comets and the Cyclones, respectively
After laughing at the throwback image, Nick explained the concept of the all-star event.
“For those that don’t know, the Disney Channel Games were basically the Olympics, but where they would bring in a hundred-ish Disney Channel stars from all over the world and make us compete in silly games.

“But what it really was, was like Love Island on crack.”
“They would put a bunch of teenagers in the Disney park after hours and just say: ‘Let’s see what happens',” he added.
Of course, Nick was referring to the dating game show Love Island, which sees singletons living in isolation while hoping to discover their true love match.

Every Islander is subjected to 24/7 video surveillance and has the opportunity to win a gigantic cash prize if they manage to make it through to the final days.
In 2019, the US got its own version of the British dating show, initially running on CBS for three seasons before being picked up by Peacock in 2022.
Previous Love Island hosts include Arielle Vandenberg, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland and most recently Ariana Madix.
Season six of the show is currently underway in Fiji and is expected to wrap on August 19.
