It has been a while since the name Ray J has been uttered by anyone in the public, but he’s back with some more of his wisdom.
There have been a series of interviews held by former NFL player Shannon Sharpe on his podcast, Club Shay Shay, and they’ve so far been a hit with fans.
But his latest guest is throwing balls of culture insights you’ve probably never considered before.

That’s because it’s bizarre the connections he’s making between the infamous 2003 sex tape featuring Kim Kardashian and her ex Ray J.
The singer hopped on the couch to talk about the effects of his tape, which suggests that ‘we’d all be different’ and wearing different clothes if his tape was never released.
Weird, I know but let’s hear him out.

Ray J, who is promoting his new single ‘Throwing Stacks’ is probably best known for his hit, ‘I Hit It First’, which talks about being with Kim before Kanye West and her other relationships.
However, the 43-year-old is still pondering that time of his life, well over a decade ago.
He asked Sharpe: "How different would we all be? How different would this whole f*cking thing be? How different would this industry be?
"Everything would be different. There might not be any OnlyFans and all the things like that. All the opportunities like that. Probably more people would be going to college."
He then went on to say that he’s trying to ‘make it right’ and shift the impact his sex tape had on the world.

He said: "Are we a part of the cure or [are] we a part of the disease? I don’t know. All I know is I’m trying to make it right."
Sharpe then asked Ray J if he is embarrassed by the tape, even though it massively put him in the spotlight and boosted his notoriety in the media.
I mean, he had a small singing career beforehand, but did anyone really know him?
Anyway, he went on to share that he was, in fact, embarrassed of the tape as he now has children.

Ray J said: “I have kids now. Everything I did now when we have kids is just totally different. The whole thing is wacky. With my kids it’s not OK.”
The sex tape is known as the catalyst of kickstarting Kim Kardashian’s career, and the careers of her sisters too.
Think about it. No tape, no Keeping Up with The Kardashians.

That’s crazy, right?
Even after Ray J’s former manager, Wack 100, threatened to release more footage - which say Kim's ex-husband Kanye West professionally swipe it and deliver it to her door - it seems like it’ll never be forgotten.
So maybe he’s not wrong about the cultural shift the tape created.
