Rosie O’Donnell speaks out after daughter Chelsea is sentenced to prison

The talk show host has asked her followers for prayers after Chelsea was sentenced

Talk show host Rosie O'Donnell has asked her followers for 'prayers' after her 28-year-old daughter Chelsea was sentenced to prison time.

The 63-year-old comedian, who is embroiled in a longstanding feud with Donald Trump, shares Chelsea with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, along with sons Parker, 30 and Blake, 25 and daughter Vivienne, 22. She adopted a fifth child, Clay, 12, with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds.

Chelsea - who has four young children of her own - was sentenced to jail time on October 22 after having her probation revoked.

In February, she pleaded guilty to resisting or obstructing an officer, felony bail jumping and possession of methamphetamine.

Chelsea's plea came after she was arrested three times between September and December 2024 for various charges, including neglecting a child and possession of narcotic drugs.

She had misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotic drugs dismissed on the day of her February court appearance, and on March 31 she was initially sentenced to six years probation.

However, Chelsea was warned that she could face prison time if she violated any of the probation requirements, which included sobriety, no possession of alcohol or another controlled substance without a prescription, no contact with any known drug users or sellers, and no possession or ownership of any firearm.

Chelsea has since been accused of violating the terms of her probation due to sexual assault allegations, an official from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program told Us Weekly.

They added that she was failing to make significant progress in her treatment drug program.

A court filing states: “The facts surrounding this request have been staffed with the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Team and have been deemed sufficient grounds to warrant termination from the Marinette County Treatment Drug Court Program."

In the wake of Chelsea's new sentencing, O'Donnell took to Instagram to share a picture of her daughter from her younger years.

Alongside the image, the mom made clear she was still supportive of her daughter.

She wrote: "My child chelsea belle - before addiction took over her life - i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future - prayers welcomed - #addiction awareness #love #family."

O'Donnell also shared a statement with People, saying: "I have compassion for those struggling with addiction - Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed."

The length of Chelsea's sentence has not been confirmed publicly, however an officer at the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to US Weekly that Chelsea had been in custody since September 9 and has been sentenced to prison.

Following the sentencing, Chelsea has been transferred to the medium security Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.
