Sarah Paulson calls out actress who sent her six pages of unsolicited advice after watching performance

Sarah Paulson calls out actress who sent her six pages of unsolicited advice after watching performance

The actress recounted an occasion when she received six pages of unsolicited feedback from another actress after a Broadway performance

Sarah Paulson has recalled the moment a fellow actress had an extraordinary reaction to a play she had been in.

Paulson had been performing in a play called Talley's Folly and her mom had brought along a friend who was also an actress.

On the face of it, that might not seem particularly unusual, but it was the actress' reaction to Paulson's performance which left her furious.

Now, being an actor means that you're going to get a lot of feedback on your performances, some of it good, some less so.

But there is a huge difference between say a feedback session with a director and someone who goes out of their way to offer a lot of unsolicited advice.

In this case, unfortunately, that's exactly what happened.

Paulson recalled how she had been left furious when the actress who had accompanied her mom to the play had sent her a follow up email with some unsolicited advice.

And we're not just talking about a couple of pointers here either.

Paulson said that the actress, who she named as Trish Hawkins, had sent her an email with six pages of completely unsolicited advice about her performance.

Six. Pages.

In an appearance on the Smartless podcast with Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, she explained that Hawkins had previously played the same role she had.

She said: "Her name is Trish Hawkins. Hi, Trish! Hi, Trisha! Trish Hawkins came to this play - am I gonna get sued? I don't care, 'cause I think this is outrageous."

Things got off to a rocky start in the pair's first encounter of the evening.

The celebrity recalled: "She looked at me sort of up and down and then she went, 'Your dress is yellow - mine was pink.' And I thought, 'What?'"

But that was far from the last of it, as the US actor continued: "Cut to two days later, I got an email that was six pages long of notes and a communication to me about what she had done when she had done the play, what she recommended I do.

"It was outrageous. It was really outrageous. Trish Hawkins, I have not forgotten it, and I hope to see you never.”

She also revealed that she had kept the notes, but didn't tell her mom what had happened.

Paulson has since gone on to win an Emmy, and has now been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress for her role in Appropriate.

Trish Hawkins could not be reached for a comment.
