Selena Gomez's fans have hit out at her critics after she received backlash for giving a homeless man $20.
Gomez was recently in New York and went for a spot of dinner at Nobu Fifty Seven.
Upon leaving the high-end restaurant, Gomez stopped to pose for photos with fans and signed autographs when she happened upon a homeless man.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Gomez's bodyguard is seen taking $20 out of his pocket and gives it to the man.
The 'Calm Down' singer then tells him to 'have a good meal'.
But, in light of Gomez's newfound billionaire status, some questioned why she only gave the man $20.

"That's like a penny split into 100 parts for her," one critic said on Twitter.
A second person questioned: "That's all????"
"Should have given him at least a $50," insisted someone else. "$20 bucks is nothing nowadays in New York. Can't even buy a pack of smokes and a tall boy beer for that anymore."
"20 bucks might as well get pack of ramen noodles," echoed a different person.

But others were quick to come to Gomez's defense and noted that it's unlikely the singer and Rare Beauty founder had any cash on her.
Someone pointed out: "I'm glad she asked her body guard if he had any cash since I seriously doubt this homeless fella had a credit card reader or the phone to go with it! Sheesh!"
Saying the same, a second person wrote: "She didn’t have cash on her and her bodyguard had $20, which he gave the man. A lot of us don’t carry cash anymore. It’s all debit cards we carry now."

A third went on: "Before y’all comment, how much did you give the homeless guy??"
Elsewhere someone hailed Gomez as 'generous and humble'.
Gomez was recently asked about her billion dollar net worth at a red carpet event, and it's safe to say she wasn't terribly impressed.

While she said she was 'grateful' for her success, Gomez went on to label it as 'distasteful to talk about money'.
Gushing about the people who buy her beauty products, the 32-year-old added: "I really am giving all the credit to people who buy the products.
"They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really, really honored and just happy."
UNILAD have approached Gomez's reps for comment.
