The actors came to the defence of the disgraced actor

Kevin Spacey's career may have been derailed by allegations of sexual misconduct, but that doesn't mean a comeback is entirely out of the question.

In fact, some of Spacey's fellow actors are controversially advocating for his return to the big screen.

Liam Neeson and Sharon Stone have both come out advocating for Spacey's image rehabilitation, issuing statements to The Telegraph.

This comes after a Channel 4 documentary about Spacey, which had been criticised by Stephen Fry for a 'disproportionate attack' on Spacey's character.

Spacey Unmasked contained testimony from ten men who alleged that the American Beauty actor had behaved inappropriately towards them.

This isn't the first round of accusations that Spacey has faced.

He was first accused in 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp said that Spacey had made a sexual advance towards him when Rapp was 14-years-old.

In the wake of Rapp's accusations, fifteen others came out and accused Spacey of sexual misconduct.

Spacey would later be found not guilty in court in 2023.

He has yet to return to working on film or television, but celebrities like Stone and Neeson are now endorsing his comeback.

Stone, who is best known for her roles in Basic Instinct and Total Recall, gave a full-throated defence of her friend.

She told The Telegraph: "I can't wait to see Kevin back at work.

"He is a genius. He is so elegant and fun, generous to a fault and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will."

She said that aspiring actors had 'wanted to be around him' and noted: "It's terrible that they are blaming him for not being able to come to terms with themselves for using him and negotiating with themselves because they didn't get their secret agendas."

Neeson, star of films such as Taken, also came out to bat for the House Of Cards actor.

He said: "I was deeply saddened to learn of these accusations against him.

"Kevin is a good man and a man of character.

"He's sensitive, articulate and non-judgemental, with a terrific sense of humour.

"He is also one of our finest artists in the theatre and on camera.

"Personally speaking, our industry needs him and misses him greatly."

There has already been talk in Hollywood for a Spacey comeback.

Director Paul Schrader mentioned his name whilst contemplating about the casting for a Frank Sinatra film.

Spacey Unmasked is available to watch on All4 and HBO Max.
