Tom Cruise's daughter has taken efforts to separate herself from her father as she celebrates her 18th birthday.
Tom Cruise has built a reputation of one of the heavyweights in Hollywood. The 61-year-old has cemented himself as one of the greats with brilliant films over the decades and his dedication to still doing many of his own stunts.
However, beyond this, the actors family life has been a lot more complicated.

Cruise and his previous wife Katie Holmes were once the sweethearts of the acting world as the pair were considered a brilliant duo in the early 2000s. This was only compounded in 2006 when the pair had a daughter, Suri Cruise.
Cruise and Holmes’ marriage would only last another six years before the pair announced they were splitting, however.
Cruise and Suri have had strained relationship for years, according to reports and the acting superstar is not believed to have a tight bond with her.

In fact, Suri recently celebrated her 18th birthday in New York City last month and had enjoyed time with her mom, however, Cruise was no where to be seen during the celebration as he was at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday bash.
Speaking to Heat magazine, a source said that Cruise felt guilty about missing the festivities and is ready to reconnect.
"Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time,” the source stated.
They added Cruise made a deal to 'allow her and her mother to live their own lives because that was what Katie wanted'.

However, Suri seems to want to distance herself from her celebrity father as she is believed to have dropped her father’s last name.
According to a Hello!Magazine report, Suri now prefers to go by Suri Noelle and this name was spotted on the playbill of her school production of The Go-Go's jukebox musical, Head Over Heels.
Noelle isn’t just a random name either, but actually the middle name of her mum, seemingly another jab at her father, dropping his name and picking up hers.

Despite being seemingly estranged from his daughter, in the divorce settlement he agreed to pay $400,000 per year until Suri turned 18, as well as paying for other expenses including insurance and education.
Cruise hasn't spoken publicly about the situation with Suri, but in 2013 told lawyers: "Listen, when there is a divorce, things change,
“It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”
