As a panelist on The View, Whoopi Goldberg makes a living stating things plainly.
When it comes to explaining her personal life, the 68-year-old actress is no different.
The Hollywood actress is constantly asked about her private life, particularly on why she isn't married.

To this, she has a simple explanation.
Appearing on The Don Lemon Show, the Sister Act star said: "I am fundamentally a selfish person and I’ve found that because I have a wonderful kid, and a son-in-law, and three grandkids and one great-grand[kid], that I don’t have time for a whole lot of other people coming into my life."
Elaborating on why she doesn't want to remarry, Goldberg said on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?: "You know, when you're married to somebody, you have to be invested in how they're feeling.

"I am not.
"I’m invested in my kid. I'm invested in her kids. I'm invested in my son in law. I'm invested in my friends.
"But I'm not invested in a relationship that would require as much as having a child requires and I know that that's not for me."
However, just because Goldberg has sworn off nuptials doesn't mean she isn't down for a bit of nookie.

Goldberg told Lemon: "Hit and runs are great, I don’t mind those, but you can’t spend the night.
"I know you're not supposed to say that but I think you must say it because not everybody is meant to be married.
"But many people enjoy, you know, sex. So sometimes a little hit and run is not bad."

Goldberg has tied the knot three times.
Her marriage to first husband Alvin Martin ended in divorce in 1979; the two share daughter Alexandrea, 51.
Seven years later in 1986, Goldberg got hitched to cinematographer David Claessen; they divorced two years later.
Her final time down to the aisle was to Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994; the pair split the following year.

This isn't the first time that the talk show host has been open about her feelings on marriage.
In a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan, she admitted she'd never been in love with any of her husbands.
She said: "I wanted to feel normal and it seemed to me that if I was married I would have a more normal life.
"But clearly that's not the case, that's not a good reason to get married.
"You have to actually want a life with someone through ups and downs and I just discovered that wasn't for me."
