Zooey Deschanel has announced her engagement to partner Jonathan Scott, having shared a smiling selfie with fans to show off her new rock.
Deschanel and Property Brothers host Scott were first spotted holding hands back in September 2019, later confirming their relationship when shared a public smooth while attending a taping of Dancing on Ice.
The New Girl star was previously married to Jacob Pechenik – with whom she shares daughter Elsie, eight, and son Charlie, six – but broke up in 2019, with their divorce finalised the following year.

Deschanel was also married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012, while Scott was with wife Kelsy Ully, a flight coordinator, between 2007 and 2010.
He got together with his now-fiancée after being single for nearly a year, having broken up from long-term girlfriend Jacinta Kuznetsov in April 2018.
The pair had actually first met while filming an episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke in August 2019, having teamed up with their respective famous siblings – Drew Scott and Bones actor Emily Deschanel.

And now, after four years of being together, Scott has dropped down on one knee.
Announcing their engagement on Instagram, Deschanel wrote: “Forever starts now!!!”, accompanied by a selfie of her and Scott, both grinning as Deschanel flashed her ring to the camera.
According to People, Scott popped the question during a trip to Scotland, with Deschanel’s two kids playing a key role in the moment.
The background of the photo shows what appears to be a Scottish castle – with the two wrapped up in leather jackets to keep them protected from the infamous UK summer weather.

People reported that Scotland is a place of particular significance for Scott, who has apparently ‘incorporated his heritage into key moments in his life’.
“At his brother Drew's 2018 wedding, for example both men wore kilts for the ceremony,” the outlet said, adding the twins’ father JIm emigrated from Scotland to Canada when he was a teenager.
Deschanel and Scott regularly post about their relationship on social media, having recently celebrated their fourth anniversary.

Posting a snap on Instagram, Deschanel wrote: “4 years since I met this freaking dreamboat. I love him more every day. I’m forever grateful!”
Scott also returned the favour with his own tribute to his partner, making a reference to one of her most famous film roles, 500 Days of Summer.
“500 days of @zooeydeschanel,” he joked, before going on: “Actually it’s been a lot more, but who’s counting anyway? 4 years really flies by. Happy anniversary baby!!!”
