Model Olivia Culpo has spoken about how she didn’t know how she’d be able to afford her rent or food after she split up with Nick Jonas.
The former Miss Universe – winning the competition in 2012 – was in a relationship with the Jonas Brothers pop star for two years between 2013 and 2015.

After they broke up, Culpo says that she had no idea how she was going to financially support herself, claiming not to have been able to afford groceries.
Now, the 30-year-old has bagged her own reality series called The Culpo Sisters and has opened up about the struggles – however temporary – that she faced after breaking up with Jonas.
Initially, she had been reluctant to chat about her relationship with Nick, asking producers: “Do I have to talk about that?”

However, she eventually relented, explaining: “I did date Nick and that was a very formative experience for me.
“I moved to L.A. with him. I had no brand, no money and I was in love.
“That was great, right?
“But when he broke up with me, I was kind of left with no sense of identity.”

Breaking up with someone you love is hard, and this was no different.
Culpo continued: “My whole identity was in him, which is a very common story of a young person in love,
“I thought we were going to get married — I thought all the things,
“I just remember night after night looking up at my ceiling in my apartment that I couldn’t afford, thinking to myself, ‘How am I going to pay my rent?’

“I couldn’t even afford my groceries.
“It was a serious, pivotal moment for me, but it was something that taught me that you can’t give up.”
So, she didn’t.
Nowadays, both her and Nick have found love with others, with Culpo living with San Francisco 49ers football player Christian McCaffrey and Jonas married to another former model, Priyanka Chopra.

Speaking about her new relationship, Culpo said: “He’s just the best, I feel like he is really everything that I could ever ask for, so I never have to worry about anything.”
Meanwhile, Nick and Priyanka welcomed a baby girl – Malti – into the world in January, so it seems like they are doing all good as well.
It might have been tough for them both for a while back there, but it’s these sorts of experiences that you look back on and realise what they taught you.
If you want to catch up with Culpo’s reality show, The Culpo Sisters airs on Mondays at 9:00pm on TLC.
