Nicki Minaj is one celebrity who is known to make big gestures.
And with her offering to pay the college tuition of a teen who killed a man to protect his mother, the Anaconda singer hasn't disappointed.

The controversial case involves a 14-year-old boy from Chicago who stepped in and shot a 32-year-old man, Jeremy Brown.
Brown had been filmed repeatedly punching the boy's mother, Carlishia Hood, in the head whilst they were in a restaurant.
The fight had broken out whilst the two were waiting in line for food, as Brown started by threatening Hood that he would 'knock her out'.
Hood's son entered the eatery and opened fire on Brown, who fled from the building.

When Hood demanded that her son finish the job, he followed Brown outside and shot him to death.
Although the mother and son were initially charged with first-degree murder, the charges were dropped after public uproar.
Minaj counts herself among the supporters of the mother and son, and took to Instagram Stories to make her feelings known.

The 40-year-old wrote: "That 14-year-old boy that backed dat hammer out when that grown a** man was punching his mother in the face as if she were a MAN; is a true hero.
"If he wants to go to college, I'd love to help. It's what ANY son should've done for their MOTHER. She raised a dope kid & should be so proud.
"Also, God knew b4 she knew; that she'd be attacked that day & made sure they had protection on DECK.
"God is GOOD."

It doesn't appear that the 14-year-old has taken Minaj up on her offer of help, which presumably means paying for his tuition.
If he does accept her generous offer, Minaj could be looking at a bill of over $100,000 for a four year course - the average amount spent by American college students to live on-campus.
Admittedly, this would be chump change for Minaj who has a reported net worth of $100 million.

With regards to Hood, she has sued the city of Chicago and the police, claiming that she was unjustly arrested and charged.
Her lawyers are arguing that the use of deadly force was justified as Hood and her son were protecting themselves.
However, others have argued that Hood's son went too far by pursuing the man after he left the restaurant and the dangerous situation had passed.
Minaj certainly doesn't count herself among those people, that's for sure.
