Kenneth Petty, the husband of singer Nicki Minaj, will spend the next year under house arrest after failing to register as a sex offender.
The 44-year-old pleaded guilty last year to the charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
He was sentenced to three years of probation and a year of house arrest, along with a fine of $55,000.

Petty, who married rapper Minaj in 2019, was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree of a 16-year-old girl in 1995 for which he served more than four years in prison.
As a condition of his conviction he has to register as a sex offender wherever he moves, and failed to do so when he moved to California with his wife after getting married.
It was discovered that Petty hadn't registered as a sex offender in the state of California when he was pulled over by the Beverly Hills Police Department in November 2019.
According to BuzzFeed, the sentence of a year's house arrest is a much lighter verdict than the one prosecutors had been pushing for.

They report that 15 months of prison and a five year period of supervision following his release was the recommended sentence, though he could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
Prosecutors had argued that Petty spending a year living in a mansion in a gated community was 'not much of a punishment'.
In the state of New York the 44-year-old was considered to be a level two offender, meaning authorities believe he carries a 'moderate risk of repeat offense'.
The Blast reports that according to court records, Petty was accused of pressing a hard object into a girl's back as she walked to school and led her to his home in September 1994.

He then allegedly attempted to rape her at knifepoint before she hit him with a bottle and escaped.
Petty was also convicted of manslaughter for the death of Lamont Robinson in 2002 after he and a group of friends allegedly walked up to Robinson and shot him three times before fleeing the scene.
Petty spent seven years in prison after Robinson was able to identify him shortly before he died, he was released in 2013.

Minaj has addressed her husband's history, with the Daily Mail reporting that she has supported Petty thought his accusations and posted pictures of them together as a family on her Instagram page.
Petty and Minaj faced a lawsuit from his alleged victim as she claimed the couple had attempted to coerce her into recanting her accusation of rape and offered her $500,000.
The lawsuit against Minaj was voluntarily dropped, although the one against Petty is ongoing.
Neither Petty nor Minaj have commented on the lawsuit.
