Saturday’s SNL marked Pete Davidson’s very last stint inside studio 8H as the comedian left the historic sketch show after eight years.
Taking his seat next to Colin Jost for one final Weekend Update, Davidson, 28, joked about everything from Kanye West to his short-lived engagement to Ariana Grande.
He kicked off the segment by saying: “Hello Colin and [Michael] Che and millions of people only watching to see if I bring up Kanye.”
As for his 2018 engagement to Grande, Davidson quipped: “I’ll never forget this. I called [Lorne Michaels] when I got engaged, I said, ‘Lorne, I just got engaged to Ariana Grande after dating for two weeks’ and he said ‘Oh, hold on for dear life!’”

Davidson also sincerely thanked SNL showrunner Lorne for his support over the years, saying: “I appreciate SNL always having my back and allowing me to work on myself and grow and thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me or judging me.
“Even when everyone else was and believing [in] me and allowing me to have a place to call home with memories that will last a lifetime.”
Of being the youngest cast member in the show’s 46-year-history, having joined at the age of 20, Davidson said: “I never imagined this would be my life.
“Look at me when I started here. Back then, I was just a skinny kid and no one knew what race I was. Now everyone knows I’m white because I became hugely successful while barely showing up to work.”

Touching upon his first ever SNL audition in front of Lorne, he told the audience that the comedy legend told him: “I don’t think you’re right for this show, so let’s screw this up together.”
Many people will have tuned into Davidson’s farewell episode in the hopes of hearing him hit out at West, who he’s been in a public feud with since it first emerged he’d started dating Kim Kardashian after meeting the reality star on SNL back in October.
Their romance saw Davidson dragged into an ongoing feud with West, with whom Kardashian shares four children.

Davidson confirmed his SNL departure on pal Dave Sirus’s Instagram on Saturday, May 21, penning in part: “When I got the show I was 20 years old and I had no idea what I was doing. I still don’t but especially back then.
“I got to share so much with this audience and literally grow up in front of your eyes. We were together through the good and the bad, the happiest and the darkest of times.”
He concluded: “SNL is my home. I’m so happy and sad about tonight’s show. For so many reasons I can’t explain.”
