Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar has responded after Billie Eilish revealed she had a crush on her as a child.
I apologise in advance for the pun, but it's got to be said that Gellar quite literally slayed her role as Buffy in the supernatural drama series.
More than 20 years after the initial release of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the show continues to be a fan favourite for those who grew up with the characters, as well as those who didn't get to know them until the show came to an end.

This was most likely the case with Eilish, who was born four years after the show first aired and was just two years old when it came to an end. It's possible the 20-year-old singer was first introduced to Gellar in the more child-friendly live-action Scooby Doo films, but when asked about her childhood crush Eilish made clear it was Gellar's depiction of Buffy that had captivated her in her younger years.
The singer made the revelation during a Q&A session on Instagram last night (27 April), and when asked "who's your childhood celebrity crush?" she responded simply with a picture of Gellar in character as Buffy.
Eilish is no doubt far from the only person to have fallen in love with Gellar as she slayed vampires in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but she's probably one of the only fans to get recognition for it as Gellar took to her own Instagram page to respond after she became aware of Eilish's post.
The actor shared a screenshot of the singer's Instagram story to her feed, writing: "I’m dead. That’s all. I’m not a child anymore, but I totally have a crush on @billieeilish Ok… now that’s really all."

The gushing didn't stop there, as Eilish then shared Gellar's post on her own story with the comment: "Um oh my God."
It's exactly the encounter a fan might hope for when declaring their childhood crush, and fans couldn't blame Eilish for her choice as many responded to Gellar's post to reveal crushes of their own.
"I think you're everyone's childhood crush, lol. Mine included," one fan wrote, while another - slightly unnerving - comment read: "You were my first girl crush ever! I had your posters all over my walls. My parents had no clue what was going through my head when it came to you."

We might not all be as lucky as Eilish when it comes to being acknowledged by our childhood crushes, but for both our past and present selves let's not give up hope.
